Architectural Heritage Fund
We help communities across the UK find enterprising new ways to revitalise the old buildings they love. We provide advice, grants and loans, and our support acts as a catalyst for putting sustainable heritage at the heart of vibrant local economies. The Rathlin Development and Community Association's vision for the East Lighthouse encompasses a mixed-use approach.

In the last year, we supported 268 projects with grants or loans and advice at all stages their development. These ranged geographically from Ramsgate to the Isle of Lewis, via Swansea and Rathlin Island off Northern Ireland, and spanned chronologically from a 13th-century ducal palace in Cornwall to a 1960s Brutalist pyramidal church in Glasgow.
Services
The Architectural Heritage Fund (AHF) is a registered charity, working since 1976 to promote the conservation and sustainable re-use of historic buildings for the benefit of communities across the UK, particularly in economically disadvantaged areas.
The AHF exists to help communities find enterprising ways to revitalise the old buildings they love.
We help them with advice, grants and loans.
Our support acts as a catalyst for putting sustainable heritage at the heart of vibrant local economies.
The unique architectural heritage of the UK is one of our greatest cultural assets, with towns and villages across the country benefiting from centuries-old buildings at their heart.
Yet many of these buildings are under threat, and their future depends on finding new uses that serve their community's needs.
This is where the AHF can help: with decades of experience, we foster and guide groups seeking to restore and adapt their historic buildings, and provide funding that helps projects move forward at critical stages.
Depending where you are in the UK, one of our specialist team will be able to help you.
N.B. 0300 numbers are included in any discount schemes or inclusive call minutes that you may already have with landline or mobile phone operators; and otherwise cost the same amount as a standard landline call to a 01 or a 02 number.

This programme supports projects that will contribute to the transformation of high streets and town centres in England helping them become thriving places, strengthening local communities and encouraging local economies to prosper.
It is part of a wider initiative to revive heritage high streets in England, alongside Historic England's High Streets Heritage Action Zones.
Together, these programmes form part of the Future High Streets Fund, administered by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
Project Viability Grants (PVG) are to fund studies to look at potential uses for a building and at its current condition, and produce a Viability Report to a standard template.
Successful completion of this will be used to judge whether applicants can then apply for the AHF's Project Development Grant funding, and can be used to secure further funding elsewhere.
This grant is administered on a rolling basis.
We aim to let you know whether you have been successful within six weeks.
The Project Development Grant (PDG) scheme is intended to assist an organisation to cover some of the costs of developing and co-ordinating a project and taking it towards the start of work on site.
