Our previous and current projects range from minor domestic alterations and refurbishment through to large scale two storey house extensions.

Established in 2011, Positive Space Architects is a chartered architectural practice specialising in the creation and reorganisation of domestic homes.
Our aim is to respond to our clients wishes and promote a budget-conscious, tailored solution that meet with their requirements and strives to transform their living environment.

Positive Space Architects is owned and run by Howard Butt, a Chartered Architect living and working in Edinburgh.
Howard trained at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Edinburgh College of Art.
Howard has worked in Edinburgh since 1999 at a number of architectural practices where he gained experience on projects in a variety of sectors, from hospitals, retail and colleges.
Before establishing his own practice, Howard worked extensively as part of a team on residential projects including Quartermile - the conversion of the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in the old town into high specification apartments and other medium and large scale residential schemes.
Howard trained at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Edinburgh College of Art.

All projects will incur fees from other consultants, such as Structural Engineering and local authorities for Planning and Building Warrant applications.
After an initial consultation and a brief is agreed, a survey of your property will be undertaken and we will investigate the different options the layout may take.
Once an outline design has been agreed a more detailed scheme design will be completed.
Once a scheme design has been agreed, we will complete all the drawings required and lodge the Planning application(s).
