ROOTS architects was conceived in 2008 by Mark Gibson. Mark is a RIBA Chartered Architect (Royal Institute of British Architects), registered with ARB (Architects Registration Board) and a member of the RIAS (Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland). This ensures that clients are fully protected by a Code of Professional Conduct and that ROOTS architects carry adequate Professional Indemnity Insurance.
Having graduated with Honours from Strathclyde University / Universit degli Studi di Firenze, Mark worked for a year with a highly regarded practice in Cyprus before returning to successfully complete his Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Architectural Design in Glasgow. Over the next four years, Mark continued his professional development in Dublin where he worked for two small design led firms.
Returning to the UK in 2000, Mark settled in Manchester where he worked for a larger, more corporate organisation and completed his Professional Practice Exam (Part 3). Over the fifteen years working in Private Practice, Mark gained valuable experience in the residential, retail, education, leisure and public sectors covering all aspects of the design and construction process.

The components for this bespoke stair were fastidiously detailed in advance.
The chunky solid oak treads and lighter but no less robust risers were individually fabricated and assembled on site.
The stair was finished with an ultra matte laquer to maintain and protect the natural beauty of the timber.
The detailing for the glass balustrade was simplicity itself.
Making good use of readily availabe materials, this project in it's totality was surprisingly cost effective.
We thoroughly investigate at an early stage any potential restrictions that local planning policies might present to your project.
