Flockhart Architects
We are a design focused practice based in Glasgow with projects across the central belt and south-west Scotland. We design residential extensions and alterations, community, civic & commercial buildings and new build eco homes. Sun room extension to the gable end of an existing holiday cottage, which was originally a stable block converted in 2000.

Refurbishment and extension of the Maxwell Memorial Hall in Kirkgunzeon, which was originally designed by the prominent Dumfries based architect, Wilfrid Fitzalan Crombie in 1907. Extension and refurbishment of an existing bungalow set within the conservation village of Moniaive. The project involves major internal alterations and extensions to create an open plan kitchen/dining/living space with an enlarged utility and log store.
Services
We provide a full range of architectural services from feasibility studies and sketch designs to planning applications, building warrant applications, tender and administration of the project during construction.
We are experienced in dealing with existing buildings, examining how redundant buildings and spaces can be reused or re-imagined for a new purpose or focus.
We are interested in the history of places and the buildings and structures which contribute to define them.
Where the opportunity presents itself dealing with an existing fabric or structure we try to understand what the architectural value of the structure is and how it can help to give a voice, understanding or logic to any new intervention.
We have been involved with a varied range of residential projects across Scotland, including bespoke house extensions in Dalbeattie and Angus, a barn conversion in Lockerbie, a new build 'eco' house in St. John's Town of Dalry and a house/office refurb in Newton Mearns.
We are also experienced in working with community organisations and small businesses, helping to improve existing facilities & creating better buildings.
Flockhart Architects are an experienced and contemporary design practice with a passion for energy efficient buildings and the sustainable re-use of existing structures.
We have a studio in Glasgow and a remote office in Dumfries and Galloway, where our practice was first established.
We combine our practice work with part-time teaching and assisting with community initiatives.
In 2012 we relocated to Scotland and after a short career break, Amanda set up her own practice in Dumfries and Galloway.
This is why we do what we do.
We believe that the best results come from working closely with each client to develop their brief and fully understand individual aspirations, we strive to create inspiring spaces that are light-filled and robust whilst sensitive to our client's needs.
Extension to house and alterations to inside, including installing new bathroom and kitchen and refurbishing shower room.
Amanda has been very attentive and thorough and her attention to detail has been excellent.
We are extremely pleased with the result and would happily recommend Flockhart Architects to others.
