EKJN Architects
EKJN Architects are Award-winning chartered architects operating in Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife, Falkirk, Stirling, Glasgow and throughout Scotland. EKJN hold RIAS Accreditation in both Conservation Architecture and Sustainable Architecture, and we create bespoke architectural solutions to improve existing buildings and create new buildings to meet bespoke client needs.

We are specialists in the conservation and adaption of traditional buildings, and we are experts in making sustainable buildings through renewable and low-carbon technologies. EKJN offer tailored Gold, Silver and Bronze service packages to provide required levels of input, whether you require Council permissions only or full Project Management services throughout construction.

Sectors of work include housing, medical, restaurants, cafes, commercial and educational buildings. Please have a browse through our recent projects, find out more about what we offer, and get in touch for a free initial consultation to discuss your project with our West Lothian and Fife offices.
Services
Design flair, the ability to think in 3-dimensions, the ability to imagine inspired solutions, the ability to communicate those ideas through words, drawings, models and images.
Take a look through the images on our website, or give us a call to find out more.
Our office is full of drawings, models and photographs and we may be able to arrange for you to visit some of our previous projects.
You want your building to keep the weather at bay, to need little maintenance but be easy to maintain when needed, to meet the requirements of all users of all abilities, to use resources sparingly during construction and require little energy to run it when complete.
Feedback from customers, contractors, consultants - everybody really - helps us to improve the services we offer.
If you've got any comments you would like to make about the work we do, good or bad, we have a special email address you can use.
I wanted to thank you for all your help.
Your calm and professional approaches got the project over the line and I appreciated working with yourselves.
Our special thanks also go to our partners, EKJN architects, Maxi Construction and project manager Gardiner and Theobald for their extensive work in bringing the building back to life.
Managing Director, Jon Newey, was awarded the RIAS Accreditation in Sustainable Building Design in 2017.
He is a member of the Centre for Alternative Technology, a Passivhaus subscriber, and has years of experience in low energy buildings, including passive solar design, heatpumps, biomass boilers and solar panels.
At EKJN we take our responsibility to the environment very seriously.
By constructing sustainable buildings we ensure your needs are met and quality of life improved, but without compromising the quality of life for future generations.
The Construction Design Management (CDM) regulations have been part of the UK construction industry since 1994.
CDM is aimed at improving the industry's record on health, safety and welfare for people involved in (or affected by) the construction, maintenance and demolition of buildings.
When first introduced in 1994 the CDM regulations created a new class of professional, the Planning Supervisor, whose role was to assist the rest of the industry in implementing the requirements placed on them by the regulations.
Architectural means like an architect.
So an Architectural Designer/Consultant/Technician is like an architect but isn't one.
Architects are by law properly qualified, registered, regulated, continually trained and properly insured.
The law governing the registration of Architects exists to safeguard you, the client.
The use of the title 'architect' is protected actively under the Architects' Act 1997 by Architect's Registration Board (ARB).
If you are in any doubt whether your advisor is a registered architect or a chartered member of the RIAS or RIBA, contact the ARB (www.arb.org) or the RIAS membership department.
