Petrow Harley is a landscape architectural practice based in New Malden, Surrey working with clients in London and throughout the UK. Offering bespoke landscape design services to, public sector organisations, local authorities, developers, construction companies and private clients. With a small team of landscape architects, we deliver a hands-on service for our clients, with designs tailored to each individual project and supported by a breadth of design and project management experience.

With over 25 years professional experience Petrow Harley has developed a collaborative and ideas led approach to the problem solving of environmental issues faced when making changes to our world. This is successfully combined with the technical abilities we have amassed over many years from a broad range of private and public-sector clients. As budgets get tightened outdoor spaces can be used for a range of cost effective sustainable outdoor learning, play and creative use, all of which contributing to a child's/young person's development and educational experience.
The practice was instructed by Strathmore School to completely redesign the existing school grounds for special needs primary pupils.
The proposal was to provide a range of colour, texture, tactile and sound play experiences to create a safe and stimulating learning environment.
A quiet sensory garden area was an integral part of the Strathmore School design, the project was completed in close collaboration and consultation with the school community to develop a sensory play ethos.
At the end of the project the Head Teacher reported a marked benefit in the attitude and behaviour of pupils using the outdoor environment.

The design proposals included a natural play area, orchard, swimming pool, tennis courts, arboretum as well as formal lawns, patio and a hierarchy of paths linking all the areas.

Working with engineers and architect incorporating sustainable urban draining (SUDs) and including riverbank restoration.
The team at Petrow Harley provided planning conditions for a new housing project within Hastings.
Petrow Harley were commissioned to carry out extensive community consultation and subsequent design, procurement, contract administration and management proposals for an existing park for Mole Valley District Council.
The Petrow Harley practice prepared a doorstep green grant application, which was successful in securely nearly 400,000 being granted from the Lottery Fund to transform an existing sterile close mown grassed park into a vibrant community space.
This project involved the practice providing a sketch proposal which would fit into an existing park to provide a new youth facilities in Dorking.
