Starlight Architecture is a small architectural design practice based in London, founded by its director architect David Wong (ARB RIBA). It specialises in residential projects and provides design consultancy services for architectural and interior design projects such as contemporary home extensions, refurbishment and retrofits. Starlight Architecture is unique among its contemporaries - we set out to create architectural designs that are inspired by "Space" (of the stars and the universe).
We use "Space" as our resource for technical reference as well as conceptual inspiration which defines our unique approach towards design. With very limited floor space available and with no scope for extension, the priority for this project was to make the most of what is available within the given space.
Taking inspirations from the interior configurations of the International Space Station, where physical space is extremely finite and every storage and work space available are treated with precious considerations.
Every single surface and storage unit in the revamped kitchen were planned with purposes and configured based on a comprehensive analysis in order to maximise their efficiency supporting various kitchen activities and requirement.

While David has participated in many space architecture workshops and design projects such as Lunar habitats and Mars transit vehicles design in the past, his conference papers have focused on using space architecture as a mean to connect the highly technical and specialised space industries with the conventional architecture disciplines and subjects, which is more relatable to the ordinary life of the general public.
