Sean Ronnie Hill was born in Ballymena and educated at the Manchester School of Architecture, obtaining a BArch in Architecture in 2005 and Diploma in 2007. He trained in Melbourne with Techn Architects, in Manchester with John McAslan + Partners, Arca and ADP before co-founding ARCHI-i in 2009 with Hugh Geoghegan in Dublin. He founded RISE Design Studio in 2011.
Sean leads the team, striving to deliver thoroughly researched solutions to varied architectural challenges. Having previously worked in design-focussed practices in Manchester and having co-founded a practice in Dublin at the height of the Irish recession, he has been exposed to, and excels in, all elements of the design and delivery of construction projects.
Sean's architectural interests lie in the immediate visceral impact buildings have on a visitor. Sean currently acts as a professional mentor for students from London South Bank University and has been involved in Architect in the House 2012 and 2013. RISE Design Studio is an innovative contemporary architecture practice based in London, making schools and houses, dealing with England and Ireland's diffuse light and absolute materiality.
Architecture is experienced emotionally, felt through the skin as much as viewed through the eyes.
For this reason, since Sean founded the studio in 2011, there has been a strong focus equally on the physicality of their work as on its conception.
Our work is informed by an awareness of place and context, craft and materiality, local climate, inclusion of sustainability, a consideration of form, and an understanding of the simplicity and quality of well-made buildings.

The practice has an invested interest in the phenomenology of architecture and how this marries with achieving low energy buildings using traditional model-making techniques as well as the most advanced architectural software to achieve fully informed and layered critical responses to the brief, context and project desire.
We work using the BIM platform that allows for a much greater understanding of the building's evolution from the initial stages of the project allowing for improved visualisation, improved productivity due to easy retrieval of information, increased coordination of construction documents, increased speed of delivery & reduced costs.
