In 1984 the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park inherited several former military buildings inamazing coastal locations.
We were asked to consider new uses for this building and designed this conversion to a hostel which was taken over by the Youth Hostels Association.
The hostel provides traditional accommodation as well as three family apartments and a part of the building was given over to form a commuity centre for Manorbier village.

These cottages at Stackpole Quay in Pembrokeshire were formed from a derelict farm on the former Cawdor estate which was gifted to the National Trust.
This development was undertaken to provide the Trust with an income to care for the estate.
In line with the National Trust's charitable aims the project was undertaken using only labour available under a government job creation scheme.
Only the electrical work was undertaken by a professional contractor.
Thus the twin aims of achieving an income for the estate and creating worthwhile jobs for over a dozen unemployed people was achived.

You have a dream which your architect can turn into reality at a price which you can afford.
For a project to be successful the chemistry between the architect and yourself is perhaps the single most important thing.
You will, after all, spend a good deal of time with your architect.
Size is less of a consideration than interest.
This practice specialises in residential projects at all levels from the refurbishment of a cottage to the design of a large home.
If the chemistry is right and the project interesting then success will follow.
