WT Architecture are award-winning contemporary Scottish Architects, with bases just outside Edinburgh in South Queensferry and in Argyll. Our work covers projects large and small across Scotland; from landmark visitor centres and community hubs to beautifully detailed houses, extensions and bothies. Everything we work on is created around an ethos of craftsmanship, collaboration and connection to place.

Our ambition is to make buildings which are meaningful in the lives of those that inhabit them, responding to and growing from our clients' needs and desires, and which are timeless in their materiality and relationship to the context they sit in. Creating architecture which belongs to its place and landscape sits at the heart of our design approach.

WT Architecture work across Scotland and the UK in some of the most beautiful, sensitive and historic places in the country. Designing for these places means understanding the historic, climatic, seasonal, cultural, social and environmental nature of a site.
Services
Our practice was was founded in 2006 by Architect, William Tunnell, following the expansion of his work as a sole practitioner.
Since then we have grown to form a highly experienced twelve-strong team of Principal, Associates, Architects, Architectural Assistants, Architectural Technician and Office Manager working across Scotland and from our studios in Edinburgh and Argyll.
WT Architecture is primarily based at our studio in Gote Lane, South Queensferry, designed by us and constructed and fabricated by collaborators Umber & Ochre.
Behind each of our completed projects is a story of a huge amount of teamwork and design thought, sometimes stretching (for our longer term public and community projects) over a number of years.
This is a selection of the many pre-completion projects we are working on at the moment: from early feasibility studies, to prototype designs, technical design packages to projects in the process of construction.
Our Library is a place for us to share the thoughts on architecture that define our approach to the projects we work on.
The process of creating architecture is a melting pot of social, cultural, psychological, historical, sensory, spatial and environmental concerns.
This is a space for us to take a step back and look a little deeper into the issues at play in architecture and the ways they connect with the world around us.
In the space of just a few short days at the end of March we threw up into the air our expectations of what a work place looks, sounds, smells and feels like.
WT Architecture presents ASPECT:Cinema: a series of events celebrating architecture in film.
We believe that the practice of architecture is not about just bricks and mortar but the life that fills buildings.
Changing light, moving sound, the stories that unfold in architectural space: on screen we see these things and the successes, failures, struggles and celebrations that give architecture purpose brought to life.
ASPECT:Cinema takes a closer look at architecture in film, through a creative and collaborative film series curated by our team here at WTA. Born from the Architecture Fringe Festival 2018, ASPECT:Cinema hosts screenings, online events and discussions uncovering and exploring the personal and collective connections to architecture which drive our practice.
