Housing is in short supply and there is a need to stimulate growth in the economy through the construction industry. The new planning laws which encourage the conversion of redundant agricultural buildings into exciting 21st century homes can help to do this. Buildings that would otherwise be very ordinary, poorly insulated and lacking in character can be revitalised by remodelling them to suit personal tastes and needs.

Extensions can allow you to stay in your home rather than needing to move. They can accommodate changing needs, lifestyles and family structures whilst providing light, bright and stimulating environments in which to live. The renovation of old and existing buildings is vital in the regeneration and sustainability of our built environment and our communities.

With new build projects you have the opportunity to build in the most sustainable way both financially and environmentally. New buildings can also provide the healthiest living environments that older buildings will struggle to do.
Services
I provide clients with a personal design service that is tailored to meet their needs.
My aim is to maximise the potential of every space and place through well considered design.
Through employing original solutions to some of the challenges that building presents, architecture can be affordable and accessible to everyone but it is also important to have realistic expectations from the outset of what is achievable with the budget available.
By taking a holistic approach to the design of buildings it should also be possible for all building projects to improve sustainability, both socially and environmentally.
Some projects will require a feasibility study to determine whether it is viable before any in depth design work is started.
Feasibility studies start with some site analysis to determine the suitability of a site for the project in question.
Simple 3D models and diagrammatic drawings can then be used to present the information before doing basic layout work to test ideas.
Through discussions with the client and the preparation of a brief that will record their requirements, I can develop an initial design.
Theo Green Designs Ltd was commissioned to design a replacement dwelling on a site close to Warminster.
The clients requested a contemporary house which would take advantage of the sunlight on the site.
The existing pool was to be kept and would play a key role in generating a strong link between indoors and outdoors.
The pool is used to anchor main living spaces at one end of the building, as the building wraps around the pool with terraces to the north and south, taking full advantage of the sun.
We started work on this project in the summer of 2017 and construction has recently been completed.
The brief was for an Oak framed extension for a thatched cottage in Bridport.
The clients wanted to replace the conservatory and create a space that connected the house and garden.
The extension needed to accommodate a new kitchen and dining area at ground floor and bedroom above.
We also suggested that by opening up the hall and entrance area it would make the house feel larger, lighter and more welcoming when you enter.
This project is a replacement dwelling near Charmouth with west facing views over rolling hills towards the sea.
Theo Green Designs were engaged by the clients in early 2015 to design a modest and highly sustainable replacement house.
The fabric of the existing building was in a poor condition and not suitable for renovation or conversion therefore replacing the dwelling was the best solution.
The site is in an elevated position just in land from the west Dorset Jurassic coast and faces west with views over the rolling hills down to the sea.
