Services
Established in 1980, Newton Forge takes its name from its original location, the small country town of Sturminster Newton in Dorset.
Established in 1980, our forge is highly knowledgeable in traditional bespoke architectural metalwork.
Established in 1980 by Ian and Karen Ring, Newton Forge began on Ian's Uncle's Farm where he perfected his trade.
Ian is a Master Blacksmith and has spent many years at the anvil producing a range of items for homes both inside and out.
From 2005 onwards Ian's knowledge and expertise meant the business began to receive more inquiries for ironwork restoration and bigger architectural metalwork commissions.
Newton Forge offers a wide range of services from historic restorations, modern fabrications and bespoke requests.
From start to finish our team of professionals will help guide you through your metalworks project, ensuring each of your requirements are executed at the highest level.
Our wrought iron services on offer restore structures to their former glory, adding class and visual appeasement.
Newton Forge has worked on some of the most famous Ironwork throughout the UK, which has opened doors to many heritage restoration projects such as Walter MacFarlane & Co Ornaments.
Macfarlane's Saracen Foundry was the most important manufacturer of ornamental ironwork that made every kind of light and heavy castings for every purpose of utility or ornament.
The work of Walter MacFarlane & Co never fails to fascinate us, history is a huge part of our company and when we have such pieces in our workshops it's so important that we source the right materials, methods, and designs.
Throughout the last 2 years, we have been working closely alongside Quinn London and Wright and Wright architects on the 18.1m development of the Museum of the Home.
We have manufactured and installed many metalwork elements for the public to enjoy and towards the end of 2020 finished the project.
Due to the current pandemic, we have been unable to get some newer images but hope to share with you the finished product very shortly - please take a look at the elements we have constructed below.
Our metalworkers fabricated the keystone structure, which was then sent to our finishers for shot-blasting and powder coating.
We design and make handrails in both traditional and contemporary styles for interior and exterior stairs.
They can be made from steel, wrought iron, cast iron, bronze, and brass.
The structures can be worked to form almost any shape from simple, straight runs to curved spiral and helical staircases.
In some cases, specialist bending equipment can be employed to ensure the rail is accurately made and easily installed.
We offer a wide range of creative handrails and staircase supports, in various patterns.
