Having trained at the Architectural Association and worked at leading London architects Michael Hopkins & Partners for five years, Gail Halvorsen established the practice with a view to developing her own brand of vernacular modernism.

Soon after setting up Halvorsen Architects, Gail Halvorsen was named as an "up and coming young female architects to watch" by architectural periodical Perspectives.
