For those intending to extend or convert their property, or even build a new home, we offer an extensive and reliable service that has existed for more than 30 years and deals with the whole of Essex as well as other counties and inner and outer London. For a reasonable fee we can provide you with an architectural sewrvice providing you with a set of fully detailed drawings along with a full building specification ready for submission to the local planning and building authority and for your builder to work to.
Being fully qualified structural engineers we can sometimes identify potential problems during the on site survey and offer immediate solutions. Project management is also undertaken in some cases where we monitor the work on site and provide you with a concise report at the end of the contract. Please feel free to browse the site or contact us by email, telephone or fax if you require-any further information about the services we can provide you.

Services
For over 30 years we have provided a planning and structural engineering service to be both private and sector in all aspects of the construction industry.
Anything from a small front porch to a private house to a small office block, block of apartments, or a retaining wall for a basement construction is designed by us.
We have many clients from the years gone by that approach us for repeat plans and details for new projects.
We have contractors that we have known for years that we can recommend to clients for the work, and we are fully indemnified (have professional insurance) which is a must when doing this type of work.

As structural engineers we can provide an additional service for those that need it.
It also means we can provide a package for those who wish to extend/convert and structural details and calculations are involved, rather than have a set of plans designed by one person and then have to approach another for the structural aspect of the project.
If existing support walls are to be removed then calculations for a support beam to take its place will be required, or if building within close proximity to certain trees it may be that the foundations will need to be engineer designed.

The majority of projects are based on a fixed fee to visit the site for a survey, discuss the project with you and send your plans and details through the post.
After a telephone discussion we ought to be able to explain what you are likely to get with and without planning permission.
If we are unable to do this then a site visit can be arranged.
A standard extension will start from 575.00p and if calculations and structural details are required for support beams or special foundations then this will be quoted for separately.

Not all extensions and conversions require a planning application.
If you need further clarification please do not hesitate to contact us.
A planning application is not required in each and every case.
To determine if a residential extension requires a planning application or not certain criteria needs to be met and this criteria is normally on each Councils website or located on the Governments planning portal.
But a simple telephone call to my offices could give you the answers you require.
Some developments have their permitted rights taken away and planning is required for everything, and in such cases a planning fee to the council is waved.

Until you have the full facts it is sometimes difficult to know whether or not to proceed.
Therefore feel free to call for advice on any matter and we will try to help you.
Most councils have their own set of guidelines that can be viewed on line that will give you some idea of how far you can extend your property.
If this confuses you then give us a call and we will try to assist you the best we can.
Once you have decided to proceed and we have been appointed we will arrange to visit the property and undertake a full survey, which normally takes a maximum of an hour.
